Michael Lascelle has a thirty-year background in horticulture and his experience includes estate gardener, landscape foreman, garden designer and nursery manager. He is the author of two regional gardening books – A Grower’s Choice (Raincoast Books 2001) and A Place in the Rain – Designing the West Coast Garden (Whitecap Books 2004). Mike has been a regular contributor to Canadian Gardening (BC correspondent), GardenWise (columnist), Canadian Garden Centre Magazine (feature articles) and the Maple Ridge News (biweekly column). His photography has been published in all the aforementioned periodicals and has also been featured on the covers of Gardens West and Arborist News (ISA publication). He has taught as a course instructor at VanDusen Botanical Garden (1997-2005) and appeared on both Good Morning Canada and City TV Breakfast Television. Mike holds a diploma of horticulture in Urban Forestry from the University of Guelph, is an ISA Certified Arborist, a qualified BC Landscape Horticulturist and was the BCLNA Garden Communicator of the Year in 2011.
